Friday Is Almost Over...

And to be honest one I am happy to see the back of...no particular reason, just one of those kind that drag ever so slowly...which is ironic when time is precious and flies by far too quickly.

Now I think I know the answer before I write this, should I hop on a bus and ride all day around the N East and see how far I can get or stay close to home? Hearing what the weather is likely to be and there are some things on TV, a day of Westerns so I may very well stay at home.

Maybe construct a plan of action for when a day like that comes around again? Bake some bread, do some housework, read a good book, take an inventory of your food stores, plan your garden for the summer. :)

If you find things to do, then perhaps the days won't drag?

What about finally getting your carpets? I read back through your blog and you were talking two years ago about getting carpets. The same with using your breadmaker. Why not give that a go?

Thank you, a kick up the behind is always welcome. Carpets delayed mainly because of the upgrade of my home and I have lost certain documents to sort out Mum's estate but as the house is pulled around that should fall into place. Especially as the weather picks up and it gets warmer. I'm even feeling pretty good again, its a temporary blip. It usually is.

I have plans to cook today and no excuse not to, after my shop on Thursday and its all good quality stuff. Full of vitamins, minerals.

I have another "Easy" recipe for bread too so watch out for an image being posted. For fun I may have a go at making some biscuits.

I've been thinking about spring and summer too funnily enough.

Another "Cheap" night of music may be happening in March on the town featuring the Durham Constabulary choir.

It fell into my lap by chance and I don't think that I have anything booked that night. That's five shows in March!

Things are picking up.

I just feel for you sometimes, that's all when you talk about the day dragging, and I find that sad, because life is too short. :)

I live alone too, but am NEVER bored - and no, I don't have family either, am a solo female. I too am on a reduced budget, but by saving carefully, I'm able to go to Norway for a few days in March.

Today I have tidied the house, baked some bread in my breadmaker and swept the patio and this afternoon I will sow the first of my lettuce seeds, so I can have fresh salad throughout the summer!
Have you any plant tubs you can plant up with some cheap pansies or something? Just to put by your front or back door to cheer things up?

I hope that I may stay somewhere this year whether its an odd weekend or a little coach holiday doing as you suggest careful money management, possible if there are fewer shows to see, health allows and saving on what has been TBH quite a mild Winter so CH costs have been kept down. Norway sounds lovely.

This year I will(though my garden has been spoilt by the H Association taking out my trees)attempt to put flowers in the border again(as we had when Mum was here)and I continued afterwards.

Last year circumstances seemed to get in the way. Likewise I'll pot up baskets and tubs. I think this year the carpets will be laid and the house decorated too.

I may be able if but slow be able to do some of that myself but have someone who will help and if I have to pay will not charge me silly money.

Sometimes if alone you don't make the contacts that others do.

I was willing to go on that bus ride today but the weather is poor(after all its still the end of Winter)and we're promised gale force winds later. But I feel much better in myself.

I think I shall have a salmon salad and I have chunky vegetable soup mix which will work out cheaper than canned soup. But 80p for four portions isn't bad.

They say boil in a pan on a stove but I can cheat and use the microwave or if you are doing small amounts its not that expensive to do on the stove.

I can once again think of preparing my own and use up vegetables that would otherwise be thrown out.

I'm a wheelchair-user and I do everything in and around my home myself except mow the lawn and clip the hedges.

So....I know the problems you face, and understand them, but hey, if I can do all this and live my days to the full, you can too. :)

Forward planning with the garden helps. Buy bulbs in September for instance and plant them then - come the spring, they'll pop up year after year with no effort required by you except the initial planting. :)

I planted lots of daffs and tulips last September in containers and the daffs are almost out and when they've finished, the tulips will take over. :)

I haven't been online for perhaps six hours but happened to come on soon after your latest comment.

I'm learning all the time from people like yourself and I now know via the internet. It is

and isn't important and people are remarkable what they do with a bit of determination but you and others in the last day or two have given me an insight into their lives which I was unaware of and I thank you for that such as mobility issues and the use of wheelchairs/scooter or walking aids to have a life of sorts.

There is a problem now in that(like yourself)I pace myself and will stay independent as long as I may but what I am gleaning away from here suggests that I and others will have many more hoops to jump through in future and any signs of independence will go against many.

Even the carrying of a carton of milk can be enough to go against you so you can imagine if you cook for yourself that could too.

Of course I do what I can when able and often its easier and not really any more expensive to buy prepared fresh veg or frozen esp when its not wasted. Slow cookers and microwave ovens are great.

I suspect that you've been through all that too. Its been a while since I posted about matters like that here.

However, I'll cross that bridge when it comes around.

To the garden. I have crocuses, snowdrops and daffs that return and increase annually. :-) Later in the year I may well split the snowdrops. Its time to perhaps plant more for the reasons that you suggest both easy and a splash of colour.

New bulbs may help where some have been in the garden for years.

Also, I'll look into planting tulips again. Some were lost by careless gardeners who dig the borders "Willy Nilly" And of course some can go in tubs and be left there or taken out when the time is right and then replanted the following years.

The big job for now is getting the lawns/hedge cut and I have a feeling I need some of the hedge replacing. That will keep me busy. In time I may put images up again.

I may stumble out of the house tomorrow and see if there are any bulbs still on sale at the local Wilkinsons and see if anything is on sale and buy now. I may even plant them.

Even Tescos will soon be offering Pansies and the like which saves me the trouble of trying to get to a garden centre/B&Q type place and I can only bring so much back on a bus. The same when using a back pack or shopping trolley.

Yes, I have been through the hoops as you describe, so I know exactly what you mean BUT-

I live in and for the present. :) The past is done, and the future isn't here yet and it might all change, who knows.

I'm not going to waste my life by worrying what might or might not happen. :) Worrying is useless.

That doesn't mean to say that I am careless with money/don't forsee things like maybe the washing machine breaking down hence tyhe need to have saved an emergency fund etc. I cook from scratch, budget and work in my garden.

My life is good, and I am happy. I just wish you could find that same sort of contentment, that's all, rather than always worrying what tomorrow may bring.

I'm certainly not going to worry about something like carrying a milk carton and if it could go against me! I'm not going to feign helplessness either to trick anyone or because I am scared of what the powers in charge may do. :)

I'm just going to be ME. :)

Now....go and bake some bread - or biscuits (you said you might) and show us some nice photos! :)

Oh - and go and get some pansies and get planting! ;) Would be nice to see some photos of your flowers. :)
