That's Nice...

I'm quite good at avoiding sweets and biscuits. Often my meals are one course...no starter or anything afterwards. Not big on snacking throughout the day either. However, I purchased a variety box of biscuits on offer after Christmas which had lots of traditional types, mainly plain and I have not had them for so long or had forgotten what they tasted like. Surprisingly, some I never purchased or wasn't that keen on are now ok. One being the variety known generically as "Nice" I have always avoided it.

The only biscuit that I still dislike and avoid but is nearly always included in any selection is the Bourbon.

Reasonably sleepy, no hurry to do anything and may still stay put for most of the day, especially if all I am missing is "That" cucumber. It has stopped raining at present but it looks as though it has been raining through the night and running down the windows. You can see there has been a heavy downpour. And the wind is increasing once more, think it is stronger than yesterday. It is going to be that way for the rest of the day.

I'm thinking warm fare today and hope to make an effort today. So may have a late breakfast(may keep it light with just toast)this afternoon perhaps a chicken, spinach and Gruyere cheese pie with vegetables. Nothing complicated and it will take little if any work.

Getting ready for the omnibus edition of the radio drama The Archers, Desert Island Discs, the comedy panel game The Unbelievable Truth and the Food Programme(All on domestic radio but usually available online for those living abroad)Sunday morning sorted.

It's hit and miss what British biscuits we can find over here. Our favorites are Cadbury's milk chocolate varieties, Scottish shortbreads and ginger creams. I like Bourbons, my husband doesn't. We both really dislike the pink and white flaky bars found in collections. We rarely eat dessert after our main meal. Like you, we like a big cooked breakfast, especially in cold weather. Then a big meal at about 1:30 p.m. and nibbles in the evening, ending with hot chocolate or malted milk.

We rarely watch TV programmes but rent films or series to watch instead. Right now we are enjoying "A Touch of Frost" and the American "Crossing Jordan" neither of which we watched when they were first shown on TV. We listen to the radio in the early morning before getting up--the BBC World Report and then our American news out of Philadelphia.

Best wishes, EJW

Someone has to like Bourbon biscuits :o)Be boring if we all liked the same things...

I'm not too critical about people who find the time to have a cooked breakfast as the health experts often do. And there are so many ways to ring the changes each day.

Until I am forced to stick to a daily schedule again, I eat when hungry and often my breakfast can become more like brunch.

Funnily enough I am thinking of having hot chocolate once more.

I have been tempted to sign up to Netflix 24/7 films/tv for approx. £1.25 a week. And now with radio/music streaming for free I really would miss not having a PC.

One of my favourite BBC World Service programmes is Outlook(streamed/podcasts)

We rent through Netflix--no advertisements--lovely. We revisit films we saw years ago. Recently we enjoyed "The Dam Busters" and "Brief Encounter" and "Rebecca". A lot of series also. We went right through "The Avengers" last year.
Now I read your letter codes before typing my message until I find one I can decipher--took 4 tries with my last email and 2 with is one.
I hope you are having a good day.

A good day but doing very little...should I feel guilty?

I like your choice of viewing on Netflix.

Here in the UK with the internet(phone line rental, subscription to the net, tv license that could be expensive for me with limited income. Then again its cheaper than going out.

Until they close the loophole, if you watch programmes on catch up, not live, you are not required to buy a TV license. That would reduce the annual cost further.

Well done for finding a way around the letter/number codes.
