Having Ties To The Railways...

As my Father worked in the industry for approx 45 years and his Father before him, I guess though its been perhaps 30 years since I used them, they are in my blood. And I see that the National Railway Museum in York have a special exhibition for the next two weeks. It will transfer to a smaller museum approx 3 miles from here and some have already been on show(and refurbished locally)but being smaller there are fewer trains to see and its not as spacious so as the museum is free and all I have to find is the cost of a return ticket I am thinking of making the trek to York in the next week or two.

Why now in particular...take a look at the following article. I think I saw a couple of them on my Birthday locally but I didn't get around to taking photo's and not being on my own I could not take the time to absorb the atmosphere, beauty and majesty of these steam locomotive engines.

Also all six of the particular class being featured are being shown together, the first time in years and perhaps for the last time.

If I travel by bus and train I can be there from my home in approx 90 minutes and that includes a change between services. Travel time is approx 50 minutes. By bus it would take close on 5 hours! If I can board a train from my town I may be able to do it less than an hour with no real wait between trains to speak of...
