So Soft...

I had another of my little shopping trips and discovered that another shop was selling my gloves cheaper than what I paid so I could have saved £3($4.87) but now I cannot be troubled to try and change them and attempt a refund.

However, I found some scarves for as little as £2($3.25)but they were not particularly soft, so not that warm for winter but for £5($8.12)I found one that is so soft(feels a bit like angora)but I have found that it is acrylic. Until recently I have not realised just how soft and warm that material is.

It has thin tassel's at either end but it is reversible. One side is wide stripes in black, white and grey. The other side has narrower stripes in black, white, grey and blue. It has to be hand washed and cannot be tumble dried. But it will probably be a long, long time before it will need washing.

I can't tell you the last time I have worn or purchased a scarf but I may as well have all the gear, what I buy now will probably last me the rest of my life.

Many shops here have a policy that if you find it cheaper somewhere else they'll refund the difference. Do your shops do anything similar?

Many supermarkets and departmental stores are the most likely to have some kind of scheme or promotion like you suggest Jan. Though most have a refund/exchange policy.

I guess the good thing is these items will last years so I'll get my use out of everything.

I have found my lost grey woollen hat(saves buying one)and I do hope that I may find the pair of gloves I misplaced which will give me an extra pair and I have two and half pairs of thermal socks so if I find the odd missing sock, that gives me three pairs to work with.

Acrylic in the form of fleece material especially is very warm & can be washed on a warm setting in the washing machine. It also dries faster than wool.

By the time I reached my destination tonight(the theatre trip)I was thinking I should have had something warmer on and I could feel the chill.

But I had the forsesight to take my scarf and gloves with me and within a short time I could feel the benefit.

I kept my coat on in the theatre and the scarf as it seemed quite cool.

But when I cam out I was lovely and warm and felt toasty.

So I'll make certain I am ready for Saturday for the next concert which is a little further North so may be colder.

Thanks for the advice about washing the scarf, it says handwash but I have washed acrylic before so I may risk doing so when needed(I could put in a wash bag)which gives a little more protection to delicate items...
