Latest Estimation...

For the amount of people requiring to use food banks in the new year is 200,000 and of course this does not show those who are depending on friends, families and other charities for help and places such as churches etc...possibly using soup kitchens or where perhaps some organisation puts on some kind of meal for those who need help. But not everyone is on benefits...many are on low wages or have health problems...

This is at a time where we hear there is going to a round of musical chairs in the Government and we'll have a reshuffle...what difference does it make when you still have the same faces and personalities mainly moving sideways. It's not as if a new MP moved into a different post is going to change the policy of that post/department. It's mainly done to avoid the hatred of the population
towards a particular minister. To try and fool us. I doubt that those in charge of housing, employment, disabled and benefits will be very popular.

In fact someone on the radio has just asked some guests in the studio, if policies are not changing what's the point of moving the ministers around and no could actually give an answer. I have a feeling there are at least four unpopular MP's who will remain in their posts and that will mean at least two have nothing to fear. So even I wonder "What's the point!" It is reported in the press that a disgraced MP who disappeared virtually as soon as the coalition came to power is being brought back into the fold, they're very good at that kind of thing.

Many in the community away from the "Westminster Village" though they are supposed to be given a second chance often struggle to get such support but in politics that generally does not mean much.

And as many think they started the problems we are now facing(and we know some policies have been continued by the present Government)why should we feel optimistic if things stay the same or there is a change after the next election whenever it happens.

I may add more to this post later or react to the comments that are likely to appear, I haven't really decided. I'm not sure much needs to be added...except many are hurting and will in the future as this term of Parliament continues...But I am not just attacking our present Government, I cannot see anything to make me believe the opposition could do any better.

And as for the Lib Dems, well their only hope is that they can hop into bed with a main party and do another coaliton as they will never get another chance so we really are back to the two main parties again, they had their chance and blew it!
That is probably the only reason the coalition is still surviving. But of course many politicians can just walk away after making a mess and use contacts they've made to walk into another well paid job so why should they care.

For all that I would quite like to see an election as soon as possible and to see some worried faces. As to who I would vote for I have absolutely no idea.

But it's a fair bet the present Government have alienated the unemployed, the ill and disabled and probably quite a few of the under 25's so that's not a bad amount of people to have upset already and more will be joining that queue...I hate to say it but I think we may end up even more like Italy, Portugal, Ireland and yes Greece and we're not even in Euro...I think it is worse than we are being told and that even they aren't sure what to do but they want to hold on to their jobs and they don't want to be remembered as a Government that failed.

You're in danger of sounding as if you're starting to complain about your standard of living again ! When the groups you mention have tipped the balance & voted out the present Govt, & installed one that will keep the levels of benefit as they are now,or even increased them, how do you think it's all going to be paid for ? Taxes from working families who can barely pay their mortages ?

Interesting that the stadium where the Paralympics are being held erupted into boos when a certain member of the Government decided to attend.

I think this could happen more often as we go through the coming months, pity that it happened during the part of the Olympics that is not getting the same coverage around the world so other countries could see how things are and such public reaction was not shown during the Olympics when certain others tried to use it for political gain...

Perhaps the British public are waking up or are not as stupid as those in charge think that they are...but whether it changes anything is doubtful.

I'm sure when the next Govt comes in, it'll be the Lib Dems, they've increase your benefits & then you'll be happy ( :

The people the audience should boo are Gordon Brown & the bankers !

No they won't, on both counts.

They're all the same and I don't think people so much ask for more than they should, most of the time they just try to survive and keep the income approx as it is.

As all in society do.

I'm sure if bankers had been present they'd have been booed too.

But most of them are unknown unless you are the Governor of the Bank of England.

I was going to say GB wasn't at the event but I think he did attend some of the Olympics but I think it was reported(I could be wrong)that he decided to go with his wife and not attend with past PM's...and of course a lot of these changes were started by the previous government.

The shuffle(can't say reshuffle) because it's the first one this Government has done will not make any difference.

I'm not going to mention them by name but two of the most hated MP's have moved to another department, one refused to go to another post(but surely you do what your leader)the PM tells you(even the BBC's chief Political reporter has said something similar)and says it puts in question what authority he has.

Another one who had been fighting for his political career has been given a promotion.

And another has been brought back who had problems over his expenses.

Another wanted to stay put and has been moved so I assume she was easier to shift.

Now it depends how many in the population give a toss, how many are informed what's happening. Or some who will say it's more of the same and continue to look at politics cynically.

Since writing the above I have discovered that another politician had a mixed reception, GB got a cheer as did Boris Johnson...

I don't know about politicians but I doubt if I can trust the public either, if they were cheering Gordon Brown, Jeezus give me strength! have they got short memories, thick? or what?

Not really sure why any politcian is cheered these days, I certainly would not turn out to see any of the current breed.

Can't decide why the crowd are booing now and did not do so if they felt this strongly, at the main olympics a few weeks ago when it might have had more affect and ruined the Government's attempts to use the event for it's own purposes and was being carried by most broadcasters across the world. Unless they have just cottoned on as to what is happening

It won't surprise that another person has been rewarded with a place connected to the Government(well kind of)he's not an MP as such but was involved with the building of the stadiums etc...for the Olympics.

Having difficultly finding his name and the official title of his post. It was mentioned briefly on the radio.

The changes can be found at the following link.
