I'm Not Rushing My Decision...

as I have a few options to choose from...I may be able to stay put but it will be tight. I will see what else is available but I talked to a few people who say there's not much to choose from as I have said but though it will take some getting used to and may still affect me financially(and I'd rather not)but needs must, another option may be to...take in a lodger.

It's just a faint possibility for now...it may never happen or may be the answer.

You don't usually rush into decisions do you ? ( :

Also, I don't mean to criticise your punctuation, but in some of your recent posts, because you rarely use commas, the sentences tend to run into rach other, making it difficult to undaerstand what you're saying.

My gardener came today and a lot of work was needed so. Mainly because of the weather being so poor.

Then again as he hasn't been for at least two months it's not surprising.

It's lovely seeing it as it should be again.

He doesn't think the idea of a lodger is a good idea and thinks I should try and stay put or go for something smaller so we're kind of back to square one but I still have a while to think about things.

He did mention something that sounds quite nice and people he knows have moved to but it may be a private set up and that may lose me some security. No garden, I think they supply the cooker and fride/freezer.

So I'd have to get rid of my own. And you have to book when you want to use the washer...

He says it is not sheltered accomodation but it sounds a bit like it is...as though you have your own place there is also a kind of communial room you can meet up in...

So still thinking it over, at least I still have time on my side... even he said don't rush into a decision that you may regret, still early days yet.

I hope should I go that I can keep my PC's, TV, CD's and some books/magazines and kitchen gadgets, a bed(I think I would like to have double bed given the choice)and my clothes...

I think I can take my food store with me as I have said if there's only me I don't care that it is on show but if I was allowed to put shelves up, I could have a curtain across them.

Others who are short on space, hide their food behind books on a book case, under the bed and all over the place...We'll just have to see...

See, I thought a lodger would be the best solution, Gildy.

I'm sure there are a lot of other folks in similar situation that would love to share.

I'd certainly be picky about who I chose, but you'd be able to stay in your home and keep all your things.

I don't think I'd discount that idea just yet. You might even put the word out to folks you know. They may know someone who'd be just right.

Jan,
Annoyingly a property(only one room less than where I am)and a bungalow has become vacant approx two streets from here but I believe it's been taken and there was no guarantee I'd get it.

As far as I can see the rent is the same and all I'd save(though it is a saving)is approx £13 a week which at present I can still absorb.

But I couldn't just up and leave, I am trying to get rid of surplus stuff and have my house tidy(things did get a little behind in recent times and it would have to be tidy for who is coming in even if as will happen the landlord will go through the property to see it is ok for who comes in.

I won't dismiss the idea of a lodger yet. There is someone over the road who is buying a property and I am sure that he has a lodger, he's had few and they all seem fine.

Perhaps I'll introduce myself and ask if he'll give me some advice/pointers...I'm sure that if I do go down that route the company I rent from will want to approve my choice.

I'd have to see how it affects what I pay, any benefits I get, what would be seen as a fair rent to ask for. Whether the money comes to me or is paid to the landlord and if my situation changed how the lodger would be affected.

That's a good idea, Gildy. And all fair concerns.

I hope that works out. It would be nice if you could find someone you get along with well.

It would help with finances and you wouldn't be so lonesome.

Win/Win :o)
