Bedroom Tax Again...

Its causing problems for many and the biggest misconception is that it always people who are scroungers who take handouts from the state.

Circumstances often suddenly change and many of those about to be affected are working.

There are more protests planned against the tax(I know that is a populist term)this weekend, more than the last time and they are hoping for greater numbers as publicity increases.

Some councils, authorities, housing associations are trying to help tenants as they feel it is unfair too, others have rolled over and given in.

Some very ingenious ideas have been tried and it will be interesting to see if they will work as many are on technicality.

It is easier if I just link to some of the stories. Whether they will work is any ones guess...

Brick up spare rooms, urges Labour MP Frank Field

If that could be done here I suspect I could reduce my home to a one or two bedroom property(as again it is suggested)a room that is a certain size ca be classed as a box room/study. I think my Housing Association would not entertain these ideas...even though the alterations could be reversed.

Amen, Gildy.

I don't know if you've heard of our famous Fiscal Cliff. The short version is since Congress can't quit being children long enough to do the job they were elected to do, there are now forced cuts in effect.

Regardless of whether or not they are wise, they will be done.

This is all self-created. They knew it was coming. They did it anyway. Things will be getting worse here too.

Bricking up the room sounds a similar idea to what happened during the window and hearth tax years when windows and fireplaces were blocked to avoid being taxed.

Paul, You just know what I am going to say..."It's history repeating itself"

Who can forget the wig tax too?

I fear the worse and more than the Bedroom Tax but then if all is well and I manage, I have worried for nothing, even those who seem ok financially can be vulnerable and circumstances can change in seconds even if you plan for all eventualities.

Some will say as they read my blog I am quite political and you can see which way I lean...I did not used to be and it was if I was not touched by what happens in Parliament but I am now.

And yes my views probably are biased because of the situation I am in.

But I don't hate or envy the rich just would like those at the bottom of the pile to know they will be warm, safe and have food on the table, that they can afford an odd treat so not every day is the same or spent worrying.

I would have said that whatever political persuation I am.

Does this sound judgemental? I hope not but when I visit the Supermarket I pass a bookies. The same people are there daily I now recognise them. Most are I would guess retired.

I suspect they don't spend that much but it gives them a purpose. A reason to get up, somewhere to go, there is some socialising and they pop outside for a smoke.

It may seem pointless to others but if it is filling a void for them I won't condem them.

Some will have gambling problems but for many it is more than placing a bet.
