A Day For Not Doing Much...
It is not very nice weather wise so I'll stay indoors and give myself the chance to improve. I have my thermals etc...on and feel quite cosy to be honest. Yet earlier my hands were quite cold but they have warmed up without the help of gloves...no heat so far has been needed.
Now today I have already eaten my quota of calories for the day(more actually)so if I eat nothing else I will be fine...Since midnight I have had salad in an oven bottom muffin, two actually. And I had a kind of mushroom and chicken pie in puff pastry with oven chips perhaps an hour ago, I have had all my vitamins and minerals too.
I have eaten more than I usually do(perhaps physically)but not in calorific value, just made more of an effort to avoid doing the same meals too often.

How can you keep on eating all this food, which seems to consume your life, now and not do some exercise. You'll end up looking like a large majority of the American population i.e. obese.
Nick
How is your back now?
perhaps you need a new armchair? as they can settle and ruin your posture.Maybe lying on sofa would be better for long periods during the day until your back goes into place?
I was told not to lie anywhere last time my back was bad......not rest it . Take care, take pain killers and gentle movement.
I must admit you do seem to go on about what you've eaten, and I haven't read back, but your meals are not at regular intervals and often sound fatty to me! You seem to have your meals during the night.
No I don't Nick, I eat normal sized portions and I do what exercise that I can. Perhaps you have no problems getting around or no medical problems, no one knows so you have the advantage.
If you talk with or listen to people who do, you'd realise many are unable to exercise.
"Eating all this food?"
Are two salad buns and a small(and I do mean small chicken and mushroom pie)with a small portion of chips in 24 hours a lot?
You do know that salad vegetables are low calorie wise...
How does that equate to it obsessing my life? Have I thought about it for the last 24 hours? Of course not.
I weigh less and any weight gain was due to medication ie:Steroids it was never be due to eating too much.
I suspect more people would be happier that I still have an appetite and take an interest in having a varied diet.
I don't suffer backache like this too often thank heavens but as I walk with a stick and probably put uneven pressure on my body that doesn't help. I don't mention every medical problem I have.
I think gentle movement will help. Thanks for all the advice anon's.
As for diet, I eat very little meat, too much protein is bad for anyone(especially red meat)but with damaged kidneys it is not a good idea to overwork them.
Most of my meals are salad or vegetable, fruit too.
Small portions often rather than one large meal. I eat when hungry and see that I get all the vitamins/minerals that I shouldfrom food but I do take some suppliments.
On a limited budget I do try to eat the best that I can afford.
And the right amount of calories(without being obsessed)
My last snack was at 10pm(some toast and marmalade)
It has been ages since I had a dessert. Until last Friday I had not eaten bacon and eggs for months, usually I grill most things but use someting like olive oil when frying food.
So not sure where the idea of a fatty diet comes from. Nor that I spend 24/7 thinking about food.
I may have health issues but I was told years ago that my diet had not caused them but eating reasonaby healthily may stop or slow down future problems...and when affected by such matters you do learn as much as you can about your condition as you do ways to control it and so I am quite an expert on what foods benefit or can harm.
Obsessed? No.
Wish I could remember where I read or heard it but some reliable source or a respectable person said that for many, the older they become food is their most enjoyable luxury. Now if I could also remember why.
Perhaps there are more of the population who see food as more than just something to keep them alive. That they appreciate and enjoy it.
Oh my god, Nick. You did not just pull the "fat American" card! What a jerk.
No you don't sound like you eat too much, Gildy. As I remember reading many days you have to make yourself eat...so don't worry about that.
As for the back...you should rest it and not overdo but also gentle movements when you do move around. Ice for twenty minutes can also be helpful, as well as warm baths if you can manage. Gentle stretches of the area can also help.
And don't worry if you do get fat you can always move here...apparently you'll fit right in. :oP

I should've responded to that remark shouldn't I...
Its an easy one to make and played by the media a lot...it is a big generalisation, stereotypical view.
Just as the British are said to have really bad teeth when we are mentioned in the States.
I see some "obese" people in my town or onmy travels but not as many as I am told by the media.
And how many are classed that way are that way because they are the "coach potato" or are over eating. It could be caused by various illnesses or the side effects of medication such as Steroids.
I'm not proud of this but all I had yesterday was two slices of bread, butter and marmite Coffee and a kind of cup a soup. That only came in at around 600 calories.
But I have had some very nice meals this week and some days my calorie intake has been up. Mainly stews/casseroles(heavy on the vegetables)not so much meat included.
I also have had bacon, eggs and mushrooms which was nice too.
Oh no. Your response to that wasn't necessary, Gildy.
Oh yes! There are plenty of stereotypes to go around. Truth be told, we do have fat people here, so like many stereotypes there's a grain of truth, but like most stereotypes it doesn't represent most people.
You're absolutely right, Gildy, many folks are on medications that cause weight gain. Steroids is definitely a culprit. I have that fight too.
Anyhoo, the point is you don't have to defend your eating habits to anyone. As long as you're getting nourishment it's no one else's business, imo.
