As Promised Here Come Images Of My Kitchen...

Still needs lots of work and cleaning but it gives an idea of what it is like...could be putting different rugs or carpet down. It also needs blinds and curtains...

Hello Gildy, so sorry that you've not been well. Thank goodness you are ok at the moment as I'm without independent transport temporarily. The trike is down at Neville Parade for his first service in about seven years. It's going to be pricey, but doing the maths, as I love to do, works out at about 50p a week for that time -and every ride saves me a minimum of £5.40 in taxi fares.

There are some vicious bugs going round, but not heard of something as virulent as yours. Of course with a compromised immune system anything is possible. Good to know that it got out of your system anyway!

What a difference in the kitchen, WHAT a difference and really worth all your hassle.

You may not need blinds and curtains, they are just cosmetic and the kitchen really isn't the place to have fabrics hanging.
I have plants on my windowsill for some privacy and I'm more overlooked than you are, at the back, anyway. Have a think about it.

Thank you x
Yes, I read about your trike problems :-( At least I did not pass my illness to anyone, nor did I have it on Tuesday. If there had been any suggestion of it I would've stayed away. I do not deliberately mix with others so they catch it too.

Its too easy to catch things isn't it. I've not been on a bus, in a crowd so I have to assume my virus or whatever was caught in the supermarket.

You make a very good point about blinds and curtains. Not having any makes it lighter in the kitchen, it doesn't seem particularly cold and what do in there do I need to worry about privacy as such. I will think about your idea.

At least I am well enough for tonight's trip to see Jeremy Hardy.

I have had some consumer issues with the utility company NPower which had me a bit worried this past 24 hours but it came out reasonably ok. Good job I decided to take matters further and accept things as they first appeared.

NPower have a godawful reputation.
I think a good idea would be to get some pots of herbs for your windowsill - if you have space, I can't tell. Not so much now as it's not an active growing season but in the spring it will give a bit of privacy and the herbs will add some zap to your cooking.
Or aloe vera, it grows like a weed, is very easy to care for and can be used on minor injuries.

I like the sound of that...I have quite a deep windowsill too.

I will be fair but may very well put up my problem with NPower on my blog later. They put things right within minutes today but last night I thought different. Though the person at the call centre could only follow the procedure he was taught to follow.

All due to one error getting out of hand.

How can you be sure you didn't pass your illness on to anyone else? You say you were still suffering on Thursday afternoon, yet you went to bingo on Thursday night; you may still have been infectious.
I think you took quite a risk with others' health that night.

I kept very much to myself, was not in close proximity to anyone, washed hands, never coughed or spluttered or shared anything with anyone.

I had no fever type symptoms either.

Others present had some symptoms of things that are doing the rounds at present.

In hindsight I think my problem was more connected to my medical condition rather than something caught.
