Proms In The Park...
In the end I cut it fine...and arrived practically as the concert started. I was in two minds whether to take the cool bag and the picnic I had prepared but I did. Next time I realise that I can take less and small portions really do work...but I did have a salad, a fruit salad with yogurt, some cola and a small bottle of lager. And yes everything stayed cold.
The concert went well, it was not much aimed at a classical audience and was populist. We had a selection of music associated with Glenn Miller, a suite of Bond movie themes, a little bit of comedy with some members of the band playing alpine horns and post horns. Though we did have some soloists who did sing Rule Britannia and Land Of Hope and Glory.
Many turned out and it is set to become an annual event. The crowd was friendly, happy and relaxed. Most were there to listen but where I was I was near some who talked and laughed the whole of the concert so I am unsure why they were there.
I would've liked the stewards to stop some of the children riding around on bikes and those scooters that are popular these days.
Where I am considerate not to block the views of others there were people who insisted on going so close to the bandstand they spoilt my view when taking photo's and video's and the view period. I have no idea if this is deliberate or they don't realise. If I manage to post the video's I'll apologise for the unsteadiness but considering I had no idea what I was going to see and one I had to try and keep my camera up for close on 12 minutes or more.
But yes I'd say it was a success. I offer stills and video's where possibles as I know some can watch one and not the other or they don't have access to sound.
