Rebranding...
I wonder how often it works?
A few years ago the social housing in a few districts when the councils were dissolved and the housing stock was transferred, the housing association kept a name that retained some connection with the original owners and the area that we live.
To some extent when you fill in forms and/or officials ask who your land lord is, it made sense and looked right. It was OK to even abbreviate the company to initials too.
I'll come clean...this area was governed by Sedgefield Borough Council...the new company decided to call themselves Sedgefield Borough Homes.
So a mailshot was sent out to all tenants this week and not only are they moving into new premises, they've obviously consulted some media promotions company who have come up with the bright idea of changing their name to so it is now to be known by one name.
So now when anyone asks who our land lord is, we have to say..."Livin'"
Can you imagine how that will sound even if you phone the company for some reason?
What sounds best? "Sedgefield Borough Homes. How can we help you?"
"Livin'. How Can we help you?"
I seem to remember BT(British Telecom)changed its name but soon returned to its original name which the public continued to use after the rebranding...
What a stupid name...wonder how much they paid for some bright spark to come up with that name?

LOL! That is really dumb. but at least you can say you're really livin now.
Do they have tower blocks: livin the high life or livin it up!
I've given more detail in my post about the company's original name and what they changed it to...
So you can see even more so how silly this rebranding is...
I'm not sure anyone renting property really cares...
Without turning this into a political debate one of the Conservatives pre-2010 pledges was to abolish the FSA and replace it with a Consumer Credit Agency. Fine until you looked at the detail and what was going to happen was that everybody in the FSA was going to move down the road with a new name over the door and carry out exactly the same business but under a different name. The only change being that insurance credit companies would be looked after by the Bank of England.
Often political parties rebrand without changing their names but sometimes they decide to try and make themselves seem less harsh policy wise by putting a bright colourful logo...the red rose, a tree etc...I'm sure some company is well paid for such suggestions.
Some will probably think the change for the housing company is for good marketing reasons, others not so kind will see it as a way of severing ties with the previous councils and political reasons for how/why the houses were transfered.
What do I know?
...and of course it costs money - basically wasting taxpayers' money
Its not quite as this rebranding first seemed...the flyer we were sent said the company is called "Livin'" but now they've sent a legal notice out that they say they have to and the company is actually called Livin' Homes Limited.
