How Things Can Change...

My new hobby or interest may be put on hold or stopped altogether...

Some bad news from my Consultant...

My kidney function has decreased and I need some more blood tests doing...My Dr's surgery has managed to fit me in tomorrow and my Dr is in the surgery all day so I'll get an appointment with him but I suspect unless his computer has some extra information on it, he'll know as much/as little as me as he will only receive the same letter as I have.

What a way to end the year...

I'm hoping its a blip and all will be well....The Consultant says that my kidney function has decreased and my creatinine levels need checking again but here's the hope...my blood pressure was very low that day and he thinks that this hiccup may be related and as he reduced my blood pressure tablets "significantly" that may mean things have improved. I do hope so, otherwise I will be worried about the future and be waiting for the phone call or a letter with good or bad news.

The Dr's surgery fit me in for a blood test tomorrow. There is nothing I can do about it, it's out of my hands as I eat the best diet I possibly can, as you know from previous posts on my blog. It's down to God and the medical professionals now. I am also arranging an appointment with my Dr whilst there.

How's Mum?

Well, remarkably, yesterday the pain was much less and she was on fewer pain killers...similar today but when she made the effort to get out of bed and sit downstairs a little it returned but she's still managing it better. So there is some better news seemingly regarding her condition. So it's a mixture of good and bad news I guess.

She is not out of the woods yet but if things go ok it could have been much worse if this story is anything to go by...
I hope 2009 is going to be kinder for everyone.

Sorry to hear about your kidney problems Gildy, I hope that the new year brings some good news.

I'm glad your Mum is managing the pain a bit better.

Let's hope the new year brings better health all round.

Thanks Paul and Span,

I've been reading your blogs too...

All the best for the New Year...

Hopefully, there is a reason for the problem that can be foixed and maybe it ties in with the blood pressure being abnormally low that day and maybe things improved now I am on fewer BP tablets...I was feeling faint at that time and I haven't since.

If not maybe I go back on the treatment again, if it continues to work as it has before but if its something else, we'll just have to see if it can be dealt with and isn't as bad as feared.

Sometimes(they can be overly cautious)at least I managed to get an appointment quickly for tomorrow.

Thanks for the support and best wishes.

Hope the appointment goes (went well) I took my littl'un in too...just to check if the spots she had were chicken pox.

Dr did not seem overly concerned and suggests that possibly it is just a case of being careful and fine tuning medication.

When this improves, he's already talking of having my hernia fixed. :-)

He doesn't mess about. He says I am wise to wait and get this sorted out first.

Chicken Pox? No fun for your little'un especially trying to stop her scratching. Hope she's better soon.

Mum is in a bit more pain today but doing ok(as far as we know)Dr says he'll come and see her again on Tuesday.

EJW again
I am so sorry to read of your poor health and of your mother's also. I am slowly reading through your past blog entries (which I do when I discover a really interesting and informative blog) I am learning more about daily life in the UK from you than from reading The Guardian on the internet and from my 76 year old sister who lives in the Isle of Wight.

Keep your spirits up. I think that you eat remarkably well and most intelligently. It can be hard to plan good meals and I enjoy your occasional photographs very much and thank you for them and for your blog in general. By the way, I am 72 years old and my husband is 67--68 on January 23rd.

Perhaps I should get back to some general entries about events happening in the UK be they trivial or political. Something to think about as this year progresses. Also add more images.

And yes try some new recipes but unless you are a chef, have unlimited income and access to unusual items...all meals are just different combinations of the same items. Even if you stick to a weekly or monthly plan.

I have thought of following a plan but so far I have not done so. I tend to use what I have at the time or its a spur of the moment thing.

How interesting to look back on an entry from so long ago...Have I really been writing this blog that long? Has all that time passed? Have I been on the internet/had a computer nearly 10 years? Wow!
