It's Strange What Gets You A Mention In The News...

by chance sometimes, years after it has happened I'll find out someone has passed away. The media is too   big but on the news on Radio 2 it said that Richard Dawson has died...

I'll forgive you if you are none the wiser...

I think he's better known as "Dickie Dawson"

The truth is that he has lived and worked in US TV for decades so I am not surprised that he is largely unknown, his version of a popular tv quiz was not shown here. In the States it was called "Family Feud" over here..."Family Fortunes"

I did not realise that he was also an actor in the comedy series "Hogan's Heroes"

Yes, Richard Dawson was very well known over here, Gildy.

Loved him on Hogan's Heroes as well as Family Feud.

They've never had a host as good, imo.

I did, bit late now but from what I saw...I liked him...the point about whether people are mentioned when they paas away was not that Richard does not deserve a mention, its just I doubt he's known here unless you are a bit of a tv/radio anorak like myself but then sometimes a really well known person isn't...

The only thing is with internet access it is easier to find out what's going on and there is also a programme on Radio 4 each week called Last Word where a few people are given a bit of a tribute.

It's sad to think that everyone mentioned has passed on and probably their families will be going through similar feelings to myself...that the programme depends on people passing away, otherwise it wouldn't happen. But that's life!
