I Did Not Feel Very Well...

when I woke this morning and felt a bit hot and clamy. It took best part of the morning to shake it off. Now I'm not known for being miserable and it takes a lot to upset me and I am positive but today on the day of the Queen's Jubilee I am feeling a little depressed.

I  hope that I can shake it off but it will take its course and leave me when its ready to. Next Sunday is the service at my local church where I'll light a candle for Mum, her name will be read out and some music will be played, that will feel a little difficult I am sure then again it may give some comfort. I just find hard to accept that we are doing this for Mum.

Well, I don't know what the weather's doing in your part of the World, Gildy but, in London, it's cold, drizzly and grey. Enough to make anyone feel miserable. If the Sun were to come out, I'm sure it would lift everyone's spirits. I began to watch the river pageant on TV but switched off because the greyness was so depressing. Instead, I'm listening to Rod Stewart. Not everyone's cup of tea, I know, but I like him.

It's cold and dull here VQ.

There are clouds passing over that I expect will bring rain. I ended up listening to the music programme Mum and myself used to share.

I could not be bothered to watch myself in the end but I am recording Radio 2's coverage which I can listen to later and there is a programme on tv later showing the highlights. I bet there is some video on the internet too.

I'm obviously going to ask if you are playing Rod's song "Sailing"

A lot of radio shows are featuring music from 1952 over the weekend.

I'm enjoying watching it on BBC and although it would have been better on a sunny day, it's still quite colourful. The Royal Barge is a very bright red and gold, and I think it is as good as you might wish it to be. It will be a bit boring listening to it on the radio though.

Hahaha Actually, no.
I bought CDs of his 'The Complete Great American Songbook' These Foolish Things, Smile, That Old Feeling, It Had to be You etc. etc.
I wasn't a fan of his when he was with the Small Faces but I am now that he and I have both matured.

I quite admire him. I know he has got through several wives but they seem to have parted on friendly terms. As far as I can remember, there hasn't been much bad publicity about him over the years.

Although he hasn't got a particularly good voice, I just like the way he sings.

Hope you're feeling a little better now, Gildy.

I've got them, typically they re-issued them as a set and they worked out cheaper that way, I missed the offer. The other day Tesco's had reduced my combi microwave by £10.

I'm a bit cold but feel more like myself :-)

I may watch the highlights later Anon, I suspect the radio coverage will have to depend more on talking to the public.

This celebration is so different to the Silver Jubilee(1977)which happened on one of our hottest Summer's, life was good and Mum and Dad were still in my life, at the time we were on holiday in Bournemouth but I seem to remember we stayed in and watched it on tv(I cannot remember if other's did)

I suspect we probably would not have done that these days.

Oh I didn't mean Rod, I like him, I meant listening to the flotilla would be boring.

I've been a fan of his for years, and like you, I admire him a lot.

Don't think anyone thought that Anon :-)

Rod's quite acceptable and liked by just about any age and no worse than many "Rocker's"

He's adapted his style...

Oh it's so cold. I know its just gone 7pm but I've had to fill a hot water bottle, have a cup a soup, put on a thermal vest, thermal socks and pyjamas and dive under the duvet, I was shaking. I have risked putting the gas CH on for a while too...

You're not on your own, Gildy. I've put my heating on too - much against my will. It's 3rd June for Heaven's sake!!

Wish I could send some of this heat over to all of you. Then we could all be comfortable. It was 104F here on Saturday. :o/

I've always liked Rod Stewart and especially when he did the "old standards". Great stuff!

And here's wishing and especially the Queen a happy Jubilee!

She's very admired all over the world. I don't believe you can say that about any other world leader anywhere.

Congratulations!

Jan :o)

There's probably a lot to be said for having a head of State that does not express an opinion publicly because even if you try to guess what she is thinking, no one knows, if you are a President or elected into such a position of power you will upset someone.

All our Governments leave much to be desired and most are not perfect, in fact most of those who have been elected have no idea what they are doing.

I assume they are showing the Jubilee in the States.

I fell asleep and woke to find the house lovely and warm, its too warm now but I only meant to have it on for a couple of hours but it was on for five hours!

Then again I haven't had the gas CH for at least a fortnight.
