I'm Debating Whether To Give Up And Listen To Radio 4...
but record Radio 2's coverage and edit it down in case anything good happens...
So far I have heard Robbie Williams, Jesse J, JLS, Gary Barlow, Cheryl Cole And Cliff Richard. They all seem to be struggling...and nothing has impressed me so far...I know that I couldn't do it but this is their chosen profession...
The Queen is OK but there's only so much waving you can do. It might've been better just to do the parade on the Thames, the lighting of the Beacon and the thanksgiving service followed by the usual flypast.
Still got it on...Grace Jones is past it!
And so far Radio 2 has missed the start of every act! Don't know how...I thought Annie Lennox was poor too(but she seemed happy with her performance)
Good old Tom Jones seems to be doing ok but he has such a powerful voice, I suspect he could manage without a microphone..
This is still meant to go on for another hour or so...and then there is party for all the guests to attend until the early hours...I think Macca did pretty good too.
I dare hardly say this but I was not as miserable today and found my thoughts were not constantly straying to Mum, I hope that's normal and disrespectful.

You should have watched it on the TV , it was hilarious, & the lasers & the fireworks at the end were brilliant !
I watched it on TV and I thought it was brilliant. I thought they all did well in sometimes difficult circumstances, and yes, the fireworks were spectacular, as was Paul McCartney's Live and Let Die with the special effects. Definitely one to watch. I thought Prince Charles' speech was just right, and thought the Queen was emotional when her husband was mentioned.
She will miss him tomorrow in St Paul's.
As an event and taking it on the whole, I think it came out with its credability intact. I think Charles got the tone spot on and the fireworks added to the climax.
Paul McCartney likes to sing Live and Let Die and the few times I have seen him do it, its peppered with quite a few visual effects...
I'm glad that so many enjoyed it and were probably less critical.
I'm watching some of it this morning, Gildy. So far, I'm glad I didn't pay good money for tickets. As you say, Grace Jones was a washout - except that I wish I could hoola hoop like she can.
So far, the one redeeming feature has been Alfie Boe. Quality!!
VQ,
Alfie Boe was good and naturally the BBC Concert Orchestra can seemingly anything but they prove that weekly on Friday Night Is Music Night.
If its music featured during her 60 years of being Queen...why did it nearly all have to be "Chart" music...were we conceeding to the audience watching across the world?
Why not some music that is popular but not necessarily what was featured even the "Chart" music was quite modern and most people today wail. They have strong voices but...
How about a bit more music from musicals, films, easy listening, standards...you could cheat by having the new artists attempting to sing some of the standards...Even Robbie had a go at doing Mack The Knife.
Could it have been split into decades or genres rather than mixing it?
Recently quite a few artists have done every well courting the older audience and also trying get the younger audience interested in music from the past.
Before Mum passed away I had on her mp3 player the new Paul McCartney CD which was enjoying where he went very intimate singing songs like "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down And Right Myself A Letter" and "Bye, Bye Blackbird"
I'm sure the Queen would have enjoyed the concert more if they had listened to you first, Gildy.
Who on Earth thought that Cheryl Cole would be entertaining? She wasn't. I didn't even think much of Stevie Wonder's performance, even though, in the past, I have been a fan.
It's the same with 'Command' performances. It would be interesting to know who the Queen would really prefer to hear but I guess we'll never know.
Some artists realise when to give up, others who look after their voices and don't abuse them, say right, we'll sing but find material that fits the range I now have. In recent years it's paid off for Johnny Mathis, Tony Bennett and even Rod Stewart.
We must've posted virtually at the same time :-)
They said it was har to get everyone for the concert but how many of those featured are on tours at present?
How many were from other countries? Unless they flew in from some villa abroad most I suspect live close to London. Or the UK is so small its quite easy these days to get around.
Again, many still must see it as a way to raise their profile and shift some CD's even if its their back catalogue.
OK it's not the original artists but one of the best strands of music to tie in with the Queen's Jubilee has been on BBC Radio Ulster.
Still available via the net

Until earlier today I'd kept hearing about someone called Will I Am but was none the wiser and I thought it was just some media nickname. I still haven't heard any of his music, turns out he's a 37 year old rapper and he has some connection to the Black Eyed Peas(I've heard the name...)
IMO you haven't missed much, Gildy. He was the one, at the concert on Monday, who sang 'Happy Birthday' to the Queen!
