Well, That Did Not Turn Out As I Expected...

I geared myself up to collect my TV...

Being Bank holiday it had not been delivered! Even though the receipt says it will be in store today at 4pm.

Had I known...I would not have gone out. I decided as I would need a taxi to bring it home I'd do some shopping at the same time. I wonder if itll fit into a taxi?

Thankfully, I manged to get the money for the taxi out of the supermarket because I said, I'd wasted money on an un-necessary trip!

Well, I have had a bowl of cereal and milk earlier in the day and may have a small one now...a cup of coffee. Later on I am thinking of having bacon, egg, mushrooms, tomatoes, baked beans and sausages.

I haven't any more room in the fridge/freezer for anything else unless I eat something so unless I run out of bread and milk I can avoid having a food shop for a week or two or if I really empty the freezer possibly a month or more.

I may have my meal late as I have no reason to go to bed at a particular time and I can get up in the night if I wish. There are two programmes on TV I'm going to attempt to watch...and try and take an interest in...one is on ITV1 looking at all those public information films we used to see on TV a lot and around 3am on Channel4 there is a film about a favourite old US sitcom called "The Honeymooners" when I get the Internet up and running maybe I can watch such late programmes at a time that suits me. The last time I watch TV in the really early hours was to see a film I had never ever seen before even though it's quite old now...Hello Dolly with Barbra Streisand.

I wonder if I should try and get a DVD recorder if that's really necessary...perhaps there is a way to record DVD's on the PC eliminating the need for a dedicated DVD recorder...I may have to give my PC man a phone call soon.

I used to be such a TV fan and now I just cannot seemingly get into committing myself to films or a series that goes on and on...I felt that way before I lost Mum. I'm out of loop with "Soaps" and programmes like "I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here" leave me cold. I haven't seen "The Voice" nor "Britain's Got Talent!"

We'll just have to see if I get taken in at some future time.

I had a quick trip around my satelite box a few minutes ago and little was of interest, what's that song that says something like 200 channels and nothing on...my box is free and I don't pay subscription and the channels are free to air if you don't count having to pay for a license.

I have no interest I'm afraid in the Olympics either, Mum had no interest in them and wasn't going to watch...now Mum sadly hasn't any choice.

I think you'll find when you've got your new TV & the broad band on your computer, you'll start taking an interest in TV programmes again & find out all sorts of new interesting websites on the internet. You probably lost interest because your Mum didn't want to watch the TV. It might be worth your while getting a DVD player.
There's some good history programmes on BBC4 & "Yesterday"

You should try & watch the rowing & running during the Olympics, those are the only ones I find exciting !
Even if you havn't got to go to the shops, try & get out of the house every day, even if it's just to go in the garden , or walk down the road & talk to someone.

The Olympics does not interest me either Anthony.

I watch some rather obscure programmes on Sky.

Aircrash Investigation.
Wheeler Dealers - they buy and do up a car to sell on.
I do watch Corrie.
There is a very good crime channel too.

Most of the time I just flick through but little catches my interest.

I agree with Anon, get out if you can. I happen to love walking in the rain, getting drenched and coming home and drying off. Then curling up on the settee with a good book, cup of tea and chocolate (weight permitting!)

Sleep well.

Thanks for your input Anon and Carol...

Will I feel better after tomorrow, I don't know, it's when I see the CAB and seek advice. If I can manage and can stay put(even if the budget is tight)I'll walk out a lot happier. On the other hand if its bad news...

My worries now concern finding a way of knocking the cost of Gas and electric down.

Can I get the food bill down any further perhaps if I eat less though I had one decent meal a few minutes ago and I reckon it all came out at approx £1.50 not counting the two bowls of cereal(One large, one small)I had earlier...

I suppose if you do say Baked Beans on toast...that gives nourishment and probably works out between 30p-60p depending on how big the portion of beans happens to be...maybe that's what I am expected to do.

And yet look at the uproar when school meals were found to be priced at a very low price.

I don't know why I was disappointed with the first programme I chose. I'll see if I can be bothered to go down and watch the other programmes I was going to. I found some Kit Kats and I seem ok after eating them though it said Best Before Nov 2011!

Well, video tape is all but finished now and my combined VCR/DVD player is again worn out(well it went wrong)not worth repairing.

I used to like walking in the rain, in the snow etc..too!

We'll see what happens regarding the Olympics.

Eating and drinking certainly warms you up. I haven't had the heating on today and am not too cold even though the rain outside is lashing down.

You dont need a DVD recorder these days, you can get one of those thingies that record on SD card or hard disc.
Who is going to help you move out your old 1984 TV as it must be pretty heavy for someone in your condition?

Yes I dread the fuel bills too Anthony. I put the heating on for about an hour just to take the chill off - seems strange using ch during May!

We use a lot of electricity as our cooker is and most other stuff, it cost a fortune at one time to have the house converted to gas and I could not afford it. Don't suppose there is that much difference now anyway.

The HA did put in gas ch after many years.

At present as it is still working I may just continue to use the old TV until it packs up, it did almost break a year ago, the screen went blue and when it came back some of the colours were wrong.

I assume the council will take it away...perhaps at cost or if you place items outside your home, they disappear, usually what used to be called a rag and bone man comes past the property. An old Fridge/freezer disappeared that way...

I think our gardener or a neighbour may help get it out oif the house...the same with the old VCR/DVD player...

I think I use more electric than gas or I will(If I leave the heating off now)but its my way of getting a hot water for a shave/bath but I can always boil a kettle to get enough for the shave...

And as said earlier when I boil a kettle now I will start filling flasks with water and then I can avoid keep boiling the kettle through the day. Some flasks here are still hot for 12 hours or more...

What a silly way to have to behave in the 21st century...

As said previously we did not have smog here and it was far cheaper using an open coal fire and a coke boiler.

Was it me, or did you put a new blog post up , worrying about how you were going to cope financially ?

Do you really want to stay on in your house if you're going to fret all the time about how you're going to cope with all the bills ?

Why don't you wait until you've talked to the CAB ? If then you come to the conclusion that you really can't afford to stay on in your house, bite the bullet & ring the Housing Association. You can't spend the rest of your life making yourself ill worrying about the cost of staying there.
Take a deep breath & decide to move. Even if your situation does change for the worse next year, surely it would be better if you were in a cheaper property by then ?

I didn't get up to watch the tv, I could not be bothered. If there really is little to interest as appears I may let the license go next year...we'll see...
