You Cannot Put A Cigarette Paper Between Them...

So now we know...

All of the main political parties in the UK are singing from the same hymn sheet.

Just that some are going further or faster with the changes that will hurt the vulnerable, elderly or sick.

I have read a speech given by a member of the shadow government...they back most of the policies being planned by the coalition...just that they would have progressed their plan of action over a longer period of time.

The only new thing I came across in the news earlier today as an aside is that where we have been hearing about Housing Benefit being reduced(one of many changes planned)as soon as possible and the shadow government are holding a debate in Parliament on on Tuesday(without a majority I am not sure what will be gained)

We now discover that by the next election if the same political scene exists...it is hoped that HB will be phased out altogether...which is even worse than the reduction everyone is going on about. This has not been mentioned much at all.

If the losers of the previous election are voted in again...I can predict laws passed will remain and not be repealed and the new government will blame the previous one and they will be able to say we had nothing to do with it!

To some extent that has always happened but never more so then now.

The more I know, the more disillusioned and depressed I become.

Hi Gildy. Yep, now you know! (Great last line of this post by the way) It's like the US, despite all the to-ing and froing they are exactly the same (imagine a ruler as the spectrum, both main parties are half inch either side of six inches...maybe because they're all average pricks...haha...I'll get my coat)

I read today that less than 10% of votes in the UK went to parties other than the main 3, add to this those that didn't vote and it is indeed depressing.

Well, now they are dropping in more and more draconian measures which will please those vocal and uninformed types(that get outraged by the spin the media puts on wasters and the slanted information being put out by official channels)and phone into radio shows...

And as one commentator said...one of the biggest bombshells has been dropped in the Sunday Newspapers but no interviews are being given to broadcasters...

Someone said elsewhere if you have bad news to bury this is the weekend to do it whilst the BBC have disruption to their news output.

At the risk of repeating myself anyone having to take money from the system is being lumped as one(whether you are unemployed or sick)and the percentage of real wasters is minimal.

And many of the proposals are being praised by those who have never had to claim and never will.

People who present radio phone-ins and write in newspapers work in quite a safe sector but are for the idea of the new idea of working for your benefits(Dressed up as Community Work)but they themselves in many cases would be lost if they were in such a situation doing voluntary work which will often be manual.

Because of the high wages they've earned or saving they have they would never be entitled to benefit so no one will ever come after them. And the contacts they have will probably mean another well paid job is forthcoming.

I'm listening to one such person now...

One newspaper keeps showing images of people lazing around a house or today three youths eating Big Macs in hoodies in the street(but these stereotypical images often say in small print posed by a model)

These youths if real, have probably been paid to do so or their reward was the Big Macs they were munching through)

The worry is that some people who do this work as a profession and are paid will find themselves being put out of work because of all these others doing what is free or cheap labour. And find themselves in a similar situation.

Its obviously based on the American model...we're in very strange times.

The debate took place in Parliament yesterday and because of the majority the coalition were successful...I wasn't surprised.

Again the media is less than fair(wasn't it always so)they look for the worst examples possible causing stereotypical images.

One annoying radio presenter started about someone sitting on their fat arse and getting self respect by working...

His two hour programme comprises of criticising so called celebs like Jordan, Posh and Becks and others and when not doing this two hour programme 6 days a week, he mixes in showbusiness circles.

Well, you could say he is working but it's not contributing to society is it? I suspect the wage is also more than many earn each week for a 40-48+ hour week.

And we haven't even gone into to the tests now carried out on the ill that do not ask for medical evidence from those who know you(your Dr and Consultant)or by looking at your medical records...it's a private firm.

Genuine people are worried and scared.

Even those in work are just as worried but pitching sections of society against each other doesn't help.

The truth is that they are "All" supporting the changes and Labour can as said earlier put up a little bit of a fight but let the changes take place but say "We tried!" and shrug their shoulders...and now with the White paper being issued in January on Welfare things go from bad to worse.

I had to listen to the BBC World Service to hear how much we are following the American model and also to hear that an American company is either coming here to invest in such a scheme(what I have not worked out yet if they are doing so as an expansion of their business)or they know they will be contracted by the Government.
